One Room Challenge: Week 4

Thank you for stopping by to check out week four of my One Room Challenge. I'm currently redesigning my powder room and only have 2 weeks left to get it finished.  To see my progress and get all of the details about the One Room Challenge please click here.

Over the past week I have nailed down all of the final details of the design and drum roll please...finally purchased the fabric for the roman shade.

I took the plunge and went with the Ebony colorway. I have to admit that while I absolutely love the way it looks with some of my existing artwork (see it paired with my black botanical above), I am already second guessing my purchase. Shocker, I know.

Last week I asked how you thought I would incorporate tassels and woven bamboo into my room and a few of you guessed correctly. I am going to add tassels to the bottom of the roman shade and the woven bamboo is going to be artwork (either in the powder room or in the hallway leading to it).

Here is what the space looks like currently. There isn't a huge change from last week other than the fact that I painted the trim.

As you can see the walls are still primed and ready for the grasscloth wallpaper. I'm beyond intimidated to tackle the wallpaper as a DIY project. Hopefully I'll work up the courage to get it done this weekend.

My little helper is always willing to give me a hand...maybe he can give me a few pointers on the grasscloth install?

The good news is that I have ordered almost everything (and received most) of the items I need to finish my little powder room's huge transformation! I'm still trying to decide on artwork for the space. I would still love to use The Pink Pagoda's prints but I have a few other options that are appealing as well. I'm giving myself until tomorrow morning to make a final decision; because let's face it, time is running out!

After much debate I decided to go with brushed nickel hardware for the room. We have brushed nickel throughout the rest of our home and I wanted to stay consistent. I might have also been swayed towards brushed nickel because of an amazingly cheap faucet that I found on Craigslist, but we can pretend it's because I wanted to stay consistent with the rest of the house. :)

I ordered this light fixture from Wayfair. I love the octagonal shape of the wall plate and I think it will fit nicely with the faux bamboo mirror I have for the room.

I also picked up this vanity from Lowe's. It was definitely not my first choice but I'm fairly pleased with it. I will decide if I love it once I remove the pedestal sink and see how it fits in the space. I'm concerned that it may be too small, but I'm praying that it will be perfect.

Well that summaries where I currently stand with my room, now I'm off to celebrate my husband's birthday, because not even the ORC can postpone birthday celebrations. :)

Make sure you go check out all of the other fabulous ORC linking participants here.

  9. What a little cutie in that orange apron. I would love to have done grasscloth in my bathroom but it's a full bath and the shower gets used daily - not sure it would be the most practical choice for me. I do love that fabric in the black colorway - don't worry - it's going to b great!!
